A small downtown at the north end of Greenville County

Travelers Rest is a city in northern Greenville County, South Carolina, on US-25 north of Greenville. Downtown is a short, walkable Main Street rather than a regional mall. The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail runs through town and on toward Greenville, which is why a lot of buyers start here when they want a smaller downtown and a paved trail near the house.

Houses, trail access, and the roads

Housing runs from in-town lots near Main Street to neighborhoods and larger lots as you leave downtown toward the mountains or back toward Greenville. Being “near the trail” can mean a block away or a drive to a parking lot. Ask for the actual walking route. A busy stretch of US-25 is a different daily life from a quiet side street, even when both listings say Travelers Rest.

Most in-town houses are on public water and sewer. Farther out, confirm whether the lot is on a septic system or a well before you assume city utilities. Road frontage on the highway is a noise and access question, not just a map pin.

Drive times

Downtown Greenville is a short drive south on US-25, commonly about 20 minutes without a backup. Furman University is south of Travelers Rest, between the two downtowns. Landrum is a short drive farther north, in Spartanburg County, near the North Carolina line. Hendersonville and Asheville are longer drives up the mountain. None of those times is a promise during an event weekend or a wreck on US-25.
